Installation Guide

Windows

Windows Installation

1. Download the .exe installer from veilus.io/download
2. Run the installer — Windows may show a SmartScreen warning:
   • Click “More info” → “Run anyway”
   • This happens because the app is new and doesn’t have a reputation score yet
3. Choose the installation directory (default: C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Veilus)
4. Launch Veilus from the Start menu or desktop shortcut

Silent Install (IT/Enterprise)

Veilus-Setup.exe /S /D=C:\Program Files\Veilus

Portable Mode

Extract the .zip version instead of running the installer. Data is stored alongside the executable — useful for USB drives.

macOS

macOS Installation

1. Download the .dmg file from veilus.io/download
2. Open the DMG and drag Veilus to your Applications folder
3. First launch — macOS will show a security prompt:

Gatekeeper Warning

macOS may say “Veilus can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.”

Fix: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll to the bottom → click “Open Anyway” next to the Veilus message.

Alternatively, right-click the app → “Open” → “Open” again.

4. Permissions — Veilus may ask for:
   • Files & Folders (for profile import/export)

Apple Silicon required

Veilus requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 13 or later. Intel Macs are not supported.

First Launch

When you first open Veilus:

1. Welcome screen — Choose your language
2. Engine — Veilus doesn’t bundle a Chromium engine; download one from inside the app
3. Profile manager — Create your first profile

Updating Veilus

Veilus checks for updates automatically on startup. When an update is available:

1. A notification badge appears in the top-right corner
2. Click “Update Available” → “Download & Install”
3. Veilus restarts with the new version

Your profiles, automations, and settings are preserved during updates.

Manual Update

Download the latest version from veilus.io/download and install over the existing version.

Uninstalling

Windows

1. Settings → Apps → Veilus → Uninstall
2. Or run Veilus-Uninstall.exe from the installation directory

To also remove profile data:

rmdir /s "%APPDATA%\Veilus"

macOS

1. Drag Veilus from Applications to the Trash
2. To remove profile data:

rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Veilus
